The details dissolve
The creative act of harvesting memories...+ some festive pics
Some memories are cherished recordings of the past - an image, emotions, a felt-sense of energy in the moment; smells, textures and sounds create vivid and visceral ‘recordings’ in our bodies and minds of the past. And some memories change over time evolving into mythical stories - details dissipate, they dissolve in time and reform in the way we want to see or remember them. They become false memories, unless we creatively harvest them. The fresher the harvest, the more we can learn from memories before the details dissolve into another year.
Harvesting and looking at memories can help us to find resolution or peace for what may be unresolved or taking up energetic space. If there’s something on your mind that’s still weighing you down from this year - then I invite you to take a moment to lift the weight and write it out as you find it. Where did those experiences bring you in your life and within yourself? What did you learn?
Take an inventory - in the most creative way - create a Book of 2024 and fill it with drawings, images, words, symbols and sensory experiences - make it 3D if you want - make it a map, make it a book, create a 3D symbol of your year. There are many ways to creatively record your story of 2024. But do it before the details dissolve.
If you’d like to be guided through prompts to help you remember the details of your year, remember, REFLECT-CONNECT - An End of Year Reflective Writing Online Workshop is available now. And today is a great day to begin.

In other news, my festive time in Potomac, near Washington DC in the USA, has been very full! (My stomach included!). I’ve been to my first live puppet show with my 6 year-old niece, and just saw A Christmas Carol play in the theatre today. We’ve also all come down with a cold and it’s raining, so we’ll be bundled up in blankets to watch Klaus this evening.
Here’s a few pics of Christmas around DC for creative and nature inspiration:

See you all next year!
with love,
